How do our Malawi volunteer opportunities work? 
We understand that every volunteer can offer an individual skillset and we therefore don’t believe in fitting individuals to projects or structured itineraries. Instead we tailor your experience in Malawi to suit your skillset and Sparkle’s needs.

As we are based in the village, volunteering with us will provide you with a great opportunity to immerse yourself in another culture and learn about traditions, practices and lifestyles. Read about our volunteer experiences in Malawi first-hand in our blog.

What does our volunteer program achieve?
Over the last six years we have built strong relationships with the communities we serve, and we personally know all our children and families that we care for. With a catchment area of 7,500 people, we are working towards a world where every village is able to become self-sufficient and has the tools to truly Sparkle. We are changing lives with our programmes and we want our volunteers to join us in this movement and become part of our Sparkle family.

How does this differ from volunteer experiences with other charities? 
We don’t believe in voluntourism. We want to help enable you to help others. We want you to love Malawi and the people you meet as well as sharing your skills. We won’t pull the wool over your eyes or just give you things to do for the sake of it. You will get stuck in. You will live, breath, work with our kids and community and have a life changing opportunity. It won’t be easy, it won’t always be the ‘fun stuff’ but it will be real and you will make a difference.
